The University is currently seeking an experienced Anatomy Laboratory Technician to oversee the activities and maintenance of a state-of-the-art anatomy laboratory.
Job Summary
Function as Anatomy Laboratory Technician.
Primarily supervise all activity conducted in the anatomy laboratory.
Maintain, preserve, and store human cadavers.
Facilitate the conduct of routine cadaveric dissections and surgical skills workshops.
Assist with the preparation of teaching aids, including prosected cadaveric specimens, models, and histological slides.
Schedule periodic maintenance and cleaning of anatomy laboratory and equipment/instruments.
Implement and maintain best health and safety practices in the anatomy laboratory.
Maintain ethical standards in the handling of human tissue.
Maintain an inventory of all laboratory equipment and teaching resources (i.e., cadavers, models, plastinates and other aids).
Provide support for all academic activities within the anatomy laboratory.
Arrange for and supervise disposal of chemicals and human body tissue.
Assist with conduct of practical exams.
Perform other university duties as and when assigned by the Laboratory Manager and teaching faculty.
Essentials and Desirables
Minimum requirement of Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical/Biological Sciences (preferably with knowledge of Anatomy)
A minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in anatomy laboratory.
Previous experience in handling and preservation of human cadavers.
Should be familiar with the use of body storage freezers and body cutting machines.
Experience in body embalming techniques and preparation of anatomy museum specimens is preferred.
Experience in histological techniques is also preferred.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Must be detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills in English medium, both verbal and written.
Critical thinking with efficient and effective problem-solving skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and professional demeanour.
