Faculty / Directorate

The Faculty of Health and life sciences is home to a diverse range of courses across two specialist areas including Psychology, taught by experienced academics.

Role

We are looking to recruit a Senior Psychology Technician who will oversee the day to day running of the Psychology facilities.

The primary role will be to provide technical support to staff and students in Psychology subject areas. This will include the preparation of designated Psychology rooms and laboratories for teaching and research. You will be expected to provide training, practical assistance and advice in the use of specialist equipment, techniques and software either on a one to one or group basis and be responsible for the maintenance and bookings of specific rooms, resources and equipment.

Ideal Candidate

We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to work as part of a small team providing a full technical service to Psychology students and staff, under the direction of the team Leader.

Essential Requirements:

You should possess a minimum of a BSc in Psychology or a closely related discipline.
Demonstrable knowledge and experience in psychology research methods, data analysis and the use of relevant specialist software is essential, e.g., PsychoPy, EEG, Eyetracker, Super lab, E-Prime, EyeLink.
You will be able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all members of the University community.
Proven computer python programming ability and/or familiarity with simulation management e.g. Learning Space, will identify you as a stand out applicant.
Experience in using virtual learning environments (e.g. blackboard or moodle) plus software such as Panopto and using MS Teams would be very helpful
